I've have, for the most part, had a successful time away from work lately, Landing 8 different freshwater species, yet I've been a bit off..... I've been visiting my favorite striper spot lately, nearly every night, and have been getting skunked. RI seems to have a mess of em along the shore, but I have been striking out. Until I get my first of the season, I won't be happy. I won't rest till it happens! I miss the fight of a keeper sized striper! I've been hittin the mid/late flood & turn, nighttime, even surrounding the full moon, ... Nothing. Oh Well. maybe this weekend's northern NH Salmon trip will take my mind off things.

Funny you should have pics of sunnies on the fly. I was given an EF Payne cane rod a couple of years ago. It was one of those "here you want this old fishing pole". First thing we slayed with it was sunnies while drinking JD in a friends backyard pond. Nice Pics!
ReplyDeletethey are fun. the commotion of the fight always brings some lurkers (LMB)to the scene. Thats how I got that Bass, it wanted to see what the excitement was all about. By not hook-setting a sunny, I was able to pull it out of his mouth, enticing the bass.
ReplyDeletesome great looking fish and a great looking reel. I love the old stuff!
ReplyDeleteSunnies fight like hell for their size... thanks.. that reel is my all-time favorite. Ct. made and 110 years old. Works like it was made yesterday!
DeleteThat is one big pancake of a sunfish!
ReplyDeleteSome of those pancakes really put a bend in my rod! Biggest that day was 10"!!!
